Ken Waldman's Nomadic Productions presents a Roots extravaganza featuring Baltimore's own Charm City Junction, The Blue Rhythm Boys, and Dovetail Ensemble. Sets at 8:00 PM and 9:15 PM.

Ken Waldman combines old-time Appalachian-style string-band music, original poetry, and Alaska-set storytelling for a performance uniquely his. He adapts the famous dictum "no surprise to the writer, no surprise to the reader" to the stage, and
Ken's Class Party is the result. Find out more about him at www.kenwaldman.com.

Dovetail Ensemble: virtuosos from diverse traditions in glorious synergistic celebration.
Their recent project "Listening to Dance" includes blues, classical, traditional Swedish music,
and beyond. With Jodi Beder, cello; Andrea Hoag, fiddle; Phil Wiggins, harmonica; and
Baakari Wilder, tap dance. Both Andrea Hoag and Phil Wiggins have been
Grammy-nominated. www.dovetailensemble.com

The Blue Rhythm Boys are Tom Mitchell & Jim Stephanson. Tom Mitchell toured for a decade with Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks and is recognized as a Baltimore master musician. Jim Stephanson is based in DC, and like Tom, Mitchell is recognized as a master. Both are involved in numerous projects, but they play together when they can -- often with favorite accompanists -- and have three CDs of hot jazz, blues, and hokum. tommitchell.us jimstephanson.com bluerhythmboys.com

Charm City Junction: Take a bluegrass fiddler, Patrick McAvinue. Add a clawhammer banjo player, Brad Kolodner. Then add an Irish button accordionist, Sean McComiskey. Round out the band with a bassist, Alex Laquement. And there you have it, a band at home playing traditional music (and originals) for dancers, but one that can also take a festival stage from bluegrass to Irish to old-time excitement, so listeners take a journey, too.

John Lilly's experience in roots music has been mythic. He's been a member of the famed percussive dance group, the Green Grass Cloggers. He played bass for Ralph Blizzard and the New Southern Ramblers. An award-winning songwriter (and intrepid yodeler), he tours solo or with his acoustic honky-tonk trio, Blue Yonder. johnlillymusic.com
